01 / The Story

Before the spotlight, there was survival.

The story begins long before the backstage passes and famous names. Ira’s early life was shaped by fear, family dysfunction, and the need to find a way through circumstances no child should have to navigate.

That history later collided with ambition, instinct, and the music business. After college came an “offer he couldn’t refuse,” a path into agency life, and eventually the creation of American Talent International.

“I’ve never claimed to be an author. But I can tell a damn good story.”

The result is a memoir about two worlds: the private damage that shaped a boy, and the public chaos of rock and roll at its most explosive.

02 / In the room

Moments behind the memoir.

Photography from Ira Blacker’s life inside the music business — artists, stages, backstage moments, and the era as it actually looked.

A life that crossed two very different worlds
Family damage. Mob connections. Famous rooms. Risky decisions. Career highs. Betrayals. Reinvention. And a lifetime close enough to rock & roll to see what happened after the lights went out.

03 / Why read it

More than a celebrity memoir.

The book’s power is in the contrast: a personal survival story told alongside an insider’s view of the machinery, personalities, risks, and spectacle of the music business.

01

Family & Survival

A difficult childhood forms the emotional foundation of the story — not as a footnote, but as the force that shaped everything that followed.

02

Inside Rock & Roll

Stories from agency life, touring, artist relationships, deal-making, and the fast-moving world behind the public image of rock music.

03

Truth Without Polish

The memoir does not hide the mistakes, failures, betrayals, or consequences. That candor gives the story weight beyond nostalgia.

04 / About Ira
